Look over the results. You need to
interpret your survey. Would you say that,
overall, your child is over-confident, confident, cautious, or really negative?
Or, is he/she quite variable in self esteem, depending upon the situation?
Have you discovered something about your child that you didn't know before?
I hope so.
Most people do vary according to their experience.
If they have had some success and their experience
in that area
has been positive, they will feel good about their abilities in that particular
thing.
To impact on your child's self esteem you need to
help them experience success and give them feedback about themselves which reflects the effort they expend
rather than measure the degrees of success or failure they experience. You
really want them to give themselves a 'pat on the back' for their success rather
than rely on your approval for their success (or implied disapproval if the
praise isn't forthcoming.)
