Baby listens and looks and follows you with his/her
eyes when you talk |
|
When they are a few months
old babies focus more deliberately on the faces around them, learning to
recognise various family members, and listening to the language around
them. Listening and looking in the direction of the voice
shows that the infant's senses are developing normally and that s/he is
capable of attending to noise stimulation in the environment. |
|
Babies are listening and internalising speech patterns well before they utter their first word. It is important to spend time talking to babies,
playing with them, and reacting to their expressions, smiles, laughter, and noises.
Babies in an overly noisy and busy environment find it harder to isolate
sounds, or to focus on one person's voice.
